New measures to guarantee support and assistance to Ukraine, which is committed to repelling Russian aggression, starting with military means, materials and equipment. And identification of a procedure that allows greater flexibility in the use of the various sources of electricity, in an Italy in which the dependence on gas imports is structural and high, exceeding 95% (the indication is contained in the annual report of the intelligence to Parliament). These are the main dossiers being examined by the Council of Ministers, expected at around 15:30 (the agenda has not yet been communicated).
The new aid to Kiev will complement those contained in the decree approved on February 25th. And, together with the Swift sanctions for Russia and the closure of airspace in Moscow, they will form the backbone of the iron pact with the EU to stop Putin’s operation.
In Cdm framework norm on sending vehicles to Kiev, then Defense decree with numbers
According to reports from government sources, the expected decree on the table of the CDM will contain only a framework rule that will allow the sending of material, including military material, to Ukraine. The number of vehicles, materials and equipment that Italy will send to Kiev will be detailed in an ad hoc decree of the Ministry of Defense. Therefore no list of military material destined by our country to Ukraine in the dl in the CDM, for the “list” we will have to wait for the decree of the Defense.
Machine guns and ammunition are on the way
Italy, like other European countries, is preparing to send military aid to Ukraine. Not only passive defense equipment, therefore, but also tools capable of concretely damaging the advance of the armed forces of the Russian Federation, inflicting losses of men and means. Among the hypotheses circulated in the last few hours, it is about a few hundred missiles capable of neutralizing tanks or planes, thousands of light and heavy machine guns, ammunition and, it is not excluded, even anti-tank mines: all weapons of easy use for a soldier trained, but also relatively straightforward to be wielded by a civilian determined to resist the invasion.
