It is currently the peak travel period during the Spring Festival, and various localities and departments in China are implementing multiple measures to ensure safe and orderly transportation for the millions of passengers traveling across the country.
According to the 2024 Comprehensive Transportation Spring Festival Transport Work Class, the number of cross-regional personnel movements in the whole society on February 10 reached 194.505 million, marking an increase of 24.2% over the same period in 2023. The railway passenger volume saw a significant increase of 100.7% over the same period in 2023, while the waterway and civil aviation passenger volumes also experienced notable growth.
To ensure smooth travel and safe transportation, localities and departments have taken proactive actions. In Xinjiang, highway and railway departments have increased transport capacity and improved services to guarantee smooth travel for passengers. In central and eastern provinces, measures have been taken to address severe weather conditions such as rain, snow, freezing weather, strong winds, and fog. This includes the deployment of spreaders and snow melting agents to prevent road ice.
The Spring Festival is also the first since the opening of the Hainan Island Tourist Highway, and measures have been taken to enhance safety and provide information to travelers using the new highway. In the Yangtze River, the Changhang Airlines system and maritime safety administrations have implemented various measures to ensure the safe travel of passengers, including emergency support plans and navigation safety information broadcasts.
With the significant increase in travel during the Spring Festival, the comprehensive measures taken by localities and departments across China are essential in ensuring the safety and orderliness of transportation during this peak period.
