The intervention will be entrusted by the Mountain Union by October. Via Castelet is also the alternative for Dolomitibus vehicles
BELLUNO. At the end of September the works for the safety of via Col Cavalier will be entrusted. In the stretch before the intersection with via Castelet, in fact, there was a subsidence of the roadway which must be put back in order as soon as possible. The project, as well as the assignment of the works, was managed by the Unione montana Belluno – Ponte nelle Alpi, while the cost of 120 thousand euros is shared in half with the Municipality of Belluno.
“This is the main road that leads to Castion and Nevegal”, explains the councilor for public works, Biagio Giannone, “so the works will inevitably create inconvenience, because the road will have to be closed from the roundabout of via Montegrappa to the bend at the intersection with via Castelet. This road that climbs up from the Anconetta will represent the alternative road network ».
The works will have a fairly limited duration, just over two weeks if there are no hitches, but there are some variables yet to be defined. The Services Conference will be held in these days, while the Mountain Union has already issued the expression of interest to find a company available to carry out the works as soon as possible to reduce the inconvenience.
The structural intervention along the road to Castion also requires a review of the routes and perhaps also of the timetables of the public transport service.
The Mountain Union has already had a first meeting with Dolomitibus, which said it was willing to change the line for Castionese, but everything has not yet been finalized. If for motorists arriving from Ponte nelle Alpi there is the possibility of using the narrow via Pedecastello, in fact, for buses via Castelet is really the only useful road and also in this case it is a rather small road.
«Considering the importance of Via Col Cavalier, we hoped that the works would be able to be carried out during the summer months, with schools closed and lower volumes of traffic», Councilor Giannone continues, «but it was not possible. Fortunately there is an alternative road network and the times will be as fast as possible, but some discomfort will be inevitable ».
Now it is a question of waiting for the response of the companies to the expression of interest of the Mountain Union, a non-trivial passage in a period in which most of the companies are working at full speed on construction sites. In recent months, the problem of costs has also been added, which have risen due to the increase in the prices of raw materials.I.a.
