Beware of trap | Warning about false auditor in Elmshorn (FinMin)
The Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of Finance warns of an unknown man who gained access to a private person’s apartment on January 9, 2024 by presenting himself as an official from the Elmshorn tax office by presenting a fake ID card at the entrance door. He falsely identified himself as an auditor.
The Ministry of Finance makes it clear that the unknown person is not an employee of the Elmshorn tax office. The responsible department has therefore already filed a criminal complaint against unknown persons.
It cannot be ruled out that this man may try again to gain access to other properties using a false ID. If you find yourself in a similarly suspicious situation, please contact the responsible tax office for your safety. There you can find out whether it is actually an employee of the tax office.
