Water resource: Priceless asset, fundamental knowledge

There were 59 students of“Rodolfo Zimarino” comprehensive institute in Scerni that b Friday morning, accompanied by some teachers and Renzo Rossettiemployee Monththey visited the Source of the Green Of Fara San Martino.

They chose the World Water Day to get to know the place from where most of the precious resource flows, the children had the opportunity not only to see but to listen to the explanations relating to the path that the water takes before reaching the taps of our homes. There are many school groups of all levels who visit the spring every year showing sincere interest and the desire to know more. “Knowledge – they say to Sasi, the company that manages the water service in a large part of the province of Chieti – it is essential to understand the inestimable value of this vital asset and therefore to respect it with correct and conscious use.

The now well-known project dedicated to primary and lower secondary school students entitled “Once upon a time there was water”, the competition, now in its fourth edition, has recorded notable participation right from the start, receiving widespread acclaim. Since last year the initiative has been further enriched with the collaboration of environmental associations who have made their volunteers available to go to schools with lessons aimed at raising awareness not only of the properties of water but above all how indispensable it is for our health and for that of the entire planet.

Water and the environment in the foreground: a combination of extreme importance for President Sasi Gianfranco That would be enough which has always tried to combine technical interventions with cultural ones, putting the territory and its needs at the centre.

“Since the first edition, the project has proved successful with the arrival of numerous works, the drawings created by the first elementary school classes and the composition entrusted to the third, fourth and fifth classes – he is keen to remember Manuela Carlucci, director of the commercial, administrative and regulatory area and creator of the competition – since the second edition we have also involved middle school students with videos and photos, the theme of the works is naturally water and its protection. The collaboration with environmental associations has further enriched the project.”

“On the occasion of World Water Day we remember that it is necessary to change the way we manage this precious resource to face climate change and the drought emergency which has not stopped bringing Italy and our territory to its knees since last summer – It reaffirmed Rebecca Virtue, president of the Legambiente Club of Atessa -. We need to rethink water management, the objective is not only accumulation to face periods of shortage but above all the reduction of water demand and therefore of withdrawals and uses in all its sectors. Thanks to the “Once upon a time there was water” project we met many young students, our aim is to inspire individual change that encourages them to adopt more virtuous behaviors in water consumption and to present good practices in managing the resource water”.
