Zhong Nanshan, an academician of the Chinese Communist Party, recently claimed that Nanjing, the epicenter of this round of epidemic prevention and control, was timely and the epidemic was controllable. However, officials from the CDC of the National Health Commission held a different view, believing that the Nanjing epidemic still has a risk of spreading.
Zhong Nanshan stated at a summit in Guangzhou on July 31 that Nanjing has managed and controlled the epidemic in a timely manner, and the epidemic in Nanjing can be controlled.
In this round of the epidemic, Nanjing Lukou Airport detected an infected case on July 20, but it was not officially closed until July 26. A public health expert from the mainland recently bluntly stated that the source of infection is difficult to stop because the airport is not closed in time.
The public health expert also said, “Nanjing has actually been closed down, but it is still a bit late.”
He Qinghua, the first-level inspector of the CDC of the National Health Commission, also believes that “the epidemic in Nanjing still has a risk of spreading in the short term”.
On the afternoon of July 31, He Qinghua said at a press conference in Beijing that Nanjing’s current round of epidemic has three characteristics: First, it is spreading the CCP variant virus Delta, which is highly contagious and spreads quickly; second, the epidemic occurred during the summer vacation in scenic spots. The flow of people gathers; third, the epidemic broke out at the densely populated and highly mobile international airport.
He Qinghua said that the above three characteristics led to the rapid spread of the Nanjing epidemic outside the province.
As of 7 p.m. on July 31st, the number of medium- and high-risk regions in the country has risen to 80, of which 77 are medium-risk regions and 3 are high-risk regions, located in Nanjing, Jiangsu, Zhengzhou, Henan, and Dehong, Yunnan.
At present, Nanjing has 30 medium-risk areas and 1 high-risk area. Recently, from Nanjing Lukou International Airport to Zhangjiajie Scenic Spot in Hunan, to Changde Cruise, the chain of spread of the epidemic in Nanjing has been further extended.
As of July 31, the spreading chain of the Nanjing epidemic has spread to many provinces and cities including Liaoning, Beijing, Jiangsu, Anhui, Hunan, Sichuan, Guangdong, Chongqing, and Fujian. Due to the CCP’s cover-up of the epidemic, outsiders questioned that the severity of the epidemic in China may far exceed the official announcement.
The spokesperson of the National Health Commission of the Communist Party of China, Mi Feng, said at a press conference on July 31 that a total of 328 new local confirmed cases nationwide in July, close to the total of the previous five months. In addition, 14 provinces have reported new local confirmed cases or asymptomatic infections.
