60th anniversary Frecce Tricolori: Horacio opens the show with a special Huayra

by admin

Pagani Automobili was also present at the airshow for the 60th anniversary of the Frecce Tricolori with a delegation of four-wheeled jewels: Horacio Pagani, the owner of the house in San Cesario sul Panaro, set fire to the powders on Sunday by making a few steps at high speed with a Huayra Tricolore, a racing car inspired by Pan’s Aermacchi MB 339

Since 1961 they have represented Italy in the world, bringing up – literally – the colors of our flag: the Frecce Tricolori are undoubtedly one of the best known Italian excellences abroad, a perfect synthesis of artistic genius, talent of the individual, work of team and technological refinement. A bit like Pagani, the car manufacturer from San Cesario sul Panaro which, not surprisingly, has been collaborating with the National Aerobatic Team for many years: at the 60th birthday of the Frecce, which took place on 18 and 19 September 2021 at the Rivolto aerobase ( UD), there was also the Emilian brand, present at the anniversary airshow with a “delegation” of splendid four-wheeled jewels.

PATROLS FROM ABROAD

The pandemic tried to put a spoke in the wheel again, but Covid only managed to postpone the air show initially scheduled for September 2020. Of course, the anniversary was celebrated behind semi-closed doors (reservations, free, sold like hot cakes in a few minutes) but the party was still staged with the participation of numerous other departments of the Air Force and various acrobatic patrols of the foreign Air Forces such as the Spanish Patrulla Águila, the Swiss Patrouille Suisse, the Polish Orlik Team and the Filandians Midnight Hawks.

AERONAUTICS IN FORCES

Once again, six years after the 55th anniversary celebrated in September 2015, the skies of Friuli have returned to color with the tricolor. The spectators, who remained with their eyes upwards even on Sunday despite a climate that was anything but mild, were able to admire the evolutions of the aircraft that alternated during the course of this two days dedicated to the passion for flying: at the airshow, in addition to the ten Aermacchi MB 339 Pan that closed the two days with their breathtaking dance, other AMI assets also took part, such as Boeing KC-767, Alenia C-27J Spartan, Lockheed C-130, Gulfstream G550 Caew , Amx, Eurofighter Typhoon, Panavia Tornado, Lockheed-Martin F-35B and many other aircraft and helicopters supplied to the Arma Azzurra.

TEN-YEAR SATISFACTION

Among the partners of the event there was also Pagani Automobili, the Italo-Argentine company that boasts a privileged relationship with the 313th Acrobatic Training Group (the official name of the Frecce). In 2010, while the Pan was blowing out its first fifty candles, the Zonda Tricolore was presented, a racing car produced in only three units that with its blue livery paid homage to the pilots of the Patrol and their Aermacchi. Ten years later, in December 2020, Pagani publicly unveiled the Huayra Tricolore, a car that incorporates the philosophy of its ancestor, bringing as a dowry an 840 HP Mercedes V12 and numerous solutions borrowed from the aeronautical world (one above all the Pitot tube on the front hood, called to measure the speed of the air as it happens on airplanes).

TIME ON TRACK

Zonda and Huayra, uncovered and uncovered, in some of their most exclusive versions: Pagani was well represented in Rivolto, even if the real four-wheeled star of the 60th anniversary of the Frecce was undoubtedly the Huayra Tricolore. Or rather, one of the three existing examples of this mechanical work of art, costing 5.5 million euros excluding taxes: driving it on Sunday on the Rivolto runway, just before the planes took off to begin their roaring show, there he was none other than Horacio Pagani, patron of the San Cesario house and father of the splendid cars that bear his name. To renew, at full speed, a partnership between two spearheads of the Bel Paese that make us proud to be Italian.
