Fernando Alonso He debuted the new Aston Martin AMR24 in the Bahrain tests and closed the morning session in third position after doing a ‘binge’ of laps (77). Silverstone team boss Mike Krack has revealed that the Asturian driver was “very happy” when he got out of the car, after completing the work program without any incidents and with a time of 1’33″385, which left eighth in the overall calculation of the day.
“We already rode at a commercial event in Silverstone a couple of weeks ago or last week. But here, obviously, it’s a different track, it’s a little bit hotter, so we have different information Fernando was very happy with how everything went” Krack commented on motorsport.com.
“I think it is important when you have a new car that you have a good feeling to start with, that you can do many laps without encountering major faults and that everything works as planned in the program,” stressed the Luxembourg technician.
“Fernando has done a great job, because we even finished earlier than we thought. I think it was a good morning, a good start. We had a pretty extensive program. Everything really went like clockwork. We were outside when the traffic light turned green and we managed to complete our entire programme,” he explained.
“We already have a lot of aerodynamic data, cooling data, all the normal things you have to work with at the beginning of a season. And we are happy with how it has gone. There were no big problems,” he added in closing.
Alonso will get back into the car tomorrow morning, while on Friday he will complete the afternoon session.
