Booking for STVV in the Europe Play-offs. After the 0-2 home defeat against AA Gent, the focus can definitely be set on next season. “It’s a shame, because STVV was at least the equal of AA Ghent,” says our in-house analyst Stef Wijnants.
“This was an unnecessary defeat. A team that creates so many chances against a top team like AA Gent simply played a good match. Point. But if you miss a penalty for the fourth time in a row, always to the same goal, by the way, you are making things unnecessarily difficult for yourself. Individually I once again saw an excellent Delorge, a faultless Smets, but also a Godeau who was not having his evening. He makes a big mistake at 0-1 and then misses a huge opportunity.”

Still, I think that at STVV they find it more of a shame that their undefeated series at Stayen has been cut short. They had not lost at home since the 0-4 against Union in October. It’s a shame that this great series ends despite such a good match. Because STVV was certainly the equal of AA Gent and deserved at least a draw.”
“What is left for STVV in the last five matches? I would recommend Fink to thoroughly test a number of players from now on. Are guys like Dumont, Bertaccini and Ananou good enough for next season? Hopefully we will get an answer to that in the coming weeks.”
