In Auronzo it is already time for the World Cup. The forty-first edition of the international canoe competition goes into the archive by launching the sprint to the world championship reserved for the Junior and Under 23 categories, scheduled for next year on the waters of Lake Santa Caterina. Test event promoted with flying colors for the satisfaction of the organization manager Andrea Bedin: «It was a quality event, which showed many excellent young protagonists of this specialty. We have received the final ok to organize next year’s World Cup. The approval also came from the Japanese delegate whom I heard over the phone since he was unable to arrive here in Auronzo in recent days after the attack on former premier Shinzo Abe ”.

Speaking of the Junior and Under 23 Canoe Speed ​​World Championships, the date remains to be established.

“It will be in July”, assures the Venetian manager Bedin, “we will work in the coming months to avoid the concomitance of the event with Lazio’s pre-season retreat in Auronzo”.

Said of the world championships, space for the 500 and 5000 meters races scheduled yesterday, called to greet the conclusion of an event deeply felt by the Auronzana community. In the competition program, the finals of the 500 meters and the exciting 5000 meters, with a starting line and two and a half laps of the lake.

Worth mentioning is the umpteenth over-the-top performance of the Austrian Timon Maurer, reigning European U23 champion, who, after having won both the one thousand and two hundred meters in the previous days, also made the 500 meter race his own.

Record numbers for the four-day Auronzana: 300 races, over 70 people involved in the organization that next year, with the World Championships, will reach 200, 600 athletes from 10 nations. Among the admirers of the next World Championships in Auronzo also the governor of Veneto, Luca Zaia, who at the time of the awards ceremony, held on the Bucintoro beach which on Thursday also hosted the opening ceremony, sent a message of closeness and participation to the committee organizer: «The 2023 Youth World Cup will represent a real business card for the Cadore area and its peculiarities».
