By Sun Longfei
On March 10, the six-day Badminton World Tour French Open concluded in Paris with the Chinese badminton team dominating the competition. The team managed to secure three championships in mixed doubles, women’s doubles, and men’s singles, showcasing their strong competitiveness.
The tournament took place at LaChapelle Arena, the venue for the upcoming Paris Olympic badminton competition. All participating teams, including the Chinese team, used this opportunity to adapt to the venue, intensifying their training and preparation for the upcoming Olympics. By actively engaging in competitive play, observing their opponents, and honing their skills, the Chinese athletes accumulated valuable experience for the Paris Olympics.
In the women’s doubles finals, Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan staged a thrilling comeback after being behind in the decisive game, eventually clinching the victory. Men’s singles player Shi Yuqi demonstrated his skill and composure in a straight games win, while the mixed doubles duo Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping secured their first championship this season.
However, the men’s doubles team showed room for improvement as none of the pairs managed to advance beyond the quarterfinals. As the team heads to the All England Badminton Open and continues preparations for the Paris Olympics, the focus will be on honing skills and accumulating Olympic points to secure full participation quotas.
With the Tokyo Olympics champion Chen Yufei facing obstacles in the women’s singles semifinals, the team remains determined to make positive adjustments and strive for success in the upcoming competitions. As the race for Olympic points intensifies, the Chinese team is set on maintaining a strong performance in the lead-up to the Paris Olympics scheduled for July 27.
As the Chinese team aims for full participation in the Olympics and strives for success in each event, the journey to the Paris Olympics promises to be an exciting and challenging endeavor for the talented badminton athletes.
