The Chinese swimming team is gearing up for the upcoming World Swimming Championships in Doha, with young athletes preparing to take on some of the world‘s best swimmers.

Scheduled to start soon, the Chinese team is making final preparations for the competition, sending 21 athletes (13 women and 8 men) to compete in swimming events and 4 athletes (2 women and 2 men) to participate in open water swimming events. However, notable Olympic and world champions from the team, such as Wang Shun, Ye Shiwen, and Xu Jiayu, will be absent from this year’s championships, opting to focus on the upcoming Olympics.

The Chinese team will be led by a new generation of swimmers, including Li Bingjie, Pan Zhanle, Yu Yiting, and Tang Qianting. These young athletes are expected to showcase their talents and compete for medals at the event.

One standout is 16-year-old Zhang Zhanshuo, who will be participating in five events at the championships, aiming to build on his success at the World Youth Championships and make a mark on the international stage. Additionally, Dong Zhihao, who set a new world youth record at the previous World Championships, is expected to make a strong showing in the men’s breaststroke events.

The results of the championships will also serve as a key factor in the selection of the Chinese swimming team for the upcoming Paris Olympics. This means that the young athletes must not only aim for medals but also use the competition as a valuable opportunity to assess their winter training and gain essential experience.
