Does he stay or go, does he even have to leave before the end of the season? There has been repeated speculation in recent weeks about the future of FCZ coach Bo Henriksen.

Now there is finally clarity, on Wednesday morning the city club sent out a media release: Bo Henriksen will leave the club after this season at his own request. In the past few weeks, ā€œexciting and constructive discussionsā€ have taken place between the club management and the coach, as the communiquĆ© states. However, it became clear in the contract discussions that the club and coach have different views on strategic development. ā€œThatā€™s why Bo Henriksen has now informed us that he does not want to extend his contract, which expires at the end of the season.ā€

Henriksen is supposed to lead the club out of the crisis

It is astonishing that Henriksen will still be on the Zurich sidelines until the summer. The media release signed by Ancillo Canepa states: ā€œBo Henriksen already proved last season that he can successfully lead the team out of a difficult situation.ā€ Despite the ongoing crisis, Henriksen enjoys the trust of the club management ā€“ ā€‹ā€‹at least for the time being.

With regard to the remaining cup and championship games, Henriksen says: ā€œIn the short term, we have to find the energy and belief back,ā€ because despite recent unsatisfactory performances, he and the FCZ definitely want to achieve the seasonā€™s goal of being represented in a European competition next season .

FCZ has been without a win for seven games

Bo Henriksen took over the coaching position at FCZ in October 2022. At that time, he succeeded the recently dismissed German Franco Foda, under whom the FCZ, as the Swiss champions at the time, had gone through a crisis with ten league games without a win. With Henriksen, the team found its way back to winning and got rid of relegation worries.

After a strong start to the season, the FCZ is currently only in 5th place in the Super League and has been waiting for a win for seven games.
