Dronero mourns the death of Carlo Aimar, former expert at Bitron, then newsagent of the town, former municipal councilor, great fan of Turin. He was 59 years old, a degenerative disease discovered for some time was taken away this morning (Monday April 18), at the Monteserrat clinic in Caraglio. Originally from Dronero, residing in via Picco Chiotti, after his period in the “Charlie” factory, Aimar had been the owner of a newsstand in via Giolitti, opposite the parish church of Dronero for 15 years. Passionate about football, “granata doc”, he often followed Turin at the Maratona curve stadium, he also loved the Palio di Siena and had received the “baptism” of the Contrada della Torre.
Elected municipal councilor in 1995, he was councilor for Sport and Events until 2004 with the then mayor Franco Reineri: “A good man, an excellent administrator, creator of many successful initiatives, had relaunched the country after the” greyness “of previous years. On a sporting level, he had managed to meet the needs of the many associations and during the two terms, the Bocciofila di Dronero had risen to the honors of the national sports news like never before. He managed to bring the passage of the Giro d’Italia to Dronero twice, he was among the architects of the birth of the Pro loco (formerly the Celebration Committee), organizer of the dinner under the arcades, inventor of the Christmas markets and the Acciugai Fair which they have given prestige to Dronero. Closed the newsstand in 2015, Aimar had been progressively hit by the disease that two years ago had removed him from the public scene. Self-taught musician and singer, he was the protagonist of many evenings with his friends Alberto Gertosio and Diego Marongiu at the «Canta Dronero», as well as baritone-tenor chorister of the «La Reis» choir of San Damiano Macra, where he also took care of the arrangements of the formation. In January he had suffered a serious mourning for the death of his father Giovanni, 84, a former Falci employee, also a much sought after singer for weddings. He leaves his mother Franca Campana and three grandchildren. The funeral will be celebrated on Wednesday 20 April, at 3 pm, in the parish church of Dronero where the rosary will be said tomorrow, at 8 pm.
