Euro 2020, after the triumph of the Azzurri, His Majesty’s tourists snub Italy

by admin

“Italy beautiful”? Yes, but after the victory of the European at Wembley it is a little less so. At least this is what tourists from Great Britain would seem to think.

After the triumph at Euro 2020, the hotels of the Capital have in fact received about 300 cancellations from British tourists: the drop has translated into a -40% of arrivals. The reason? The fear of being made fun of, first of all, and also the fear of being placed in quarantine.

This is no small problem for the tourist sector of Rome, which welcomes approximately half a million British tourists every year. An impressive flow of people capable of generating revenues of ten million euros.

But it’s not just football that worries His Majesty’s subjects. According to hoteliers and tour guides, the obligation to quarantine may also have weighed on the drop in arrivals. Following the increase in infections of the Delta variant, last June 21 Minister Speranza introduced the obligation of five days of quarantine for those coming from Great Britain.
