Millonarios Falls Short in Libertadores Cup Match Against Bolívar
Despite a valiant effort in the second half, Millonarios was unable to secure a victory against Bolívar in La Paz, falling 3-2 in the second round of Group E of the Copa Libertadores. Bolívar’s goals came from José Sagredo, Francisco Da Costa, and Bruno Sávio, while Leonardo Castro scored a double for the albiazules.
In the first half, Millonarios struggled as Bolívar took advantage of ten disastrous minutes to score two quick goals. José Sagredo found the back of the net in the 3rd minute, followed by Francisco Da Costa in the 10th minute. Bolívar was reduced to ten men after Yomar Rocha was sent off around the 25th minute.
Bruno Sávio added a third goal for Bolívar before the end of the first half, but Millonarios managed to pull one back through Leonardo Castro’s header. In the second half, Millonarios had several opportunities to score but were unable to convert until Castro converted a penalty in the 72nd minute to score his second goal.
Despite a late surge, Millonarios could not find the equalizer, resulting in a defeat that complicates their position in the group. Bolívar now leads with six points, followed by Flamengo with four, while Millonarios sits at the bottom with one point. Their next match will be against Palestino in Chile.
