Yuma Kagiyama Wins Men’s Singles Figure Skating Championship at Four Continents
The 2024 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships in Shanghai saw Yuma Kagiyama break through the 300-point mark and claim the men’s singles championship.
Kagiyama expressed his desire to join the “300-point club” after the short program competition on the 1st. In the finals on the 3rd, he achieved his goal with a total score of 307.58 points.
“I am very happy. I made three jumping postures around today. I also performed very calmly afterwards and finally completed a complete set of actions,” said Kagiyama after his win.
Second place went to Japanese player Shun Sato, while South Korean player Cha Junhwan claimed the bronze medal.
The championship in pairs skating was won by Dudik/Deschamps, with the Japanese team and American team taking second and third place, respectively.
The Chinese pair Peng Cheng/Wang Lei made mistakes during the game and ultimately ranked sixth among the 12 pairs. “I hope I can sum up these experiences and improve them in the next competition… There are really no shortcuts in competitive sports. You don’t have any luck, you need to be down-to-earth and take every step,” Peng Cheng said after the game.
The event showcased impressive performances and set the stage for the upcoming World Championships.
