The FIVB Sand Volleyball Tour is set to make a long-awaited return to Xiamen this year, adding to an already exciting lineup of sporting events in the city. The 2024 World Athletics Diamond League will kick off in Xiamen on April 20, followed by the highly anticipated return of the FIVB Beach Volleyball Professional Tour Challenge and Paris Olympic Qualifying Tournament just five days later.

The FIVB World Beach Volleyball Tour had been a regular fixture in Xiamen until it was suspended in 2020 due to the pandemic. However, this year’s event marks the return of the tour, with some significant changes to the competition format. The star classification has been replaced with future competition, challenge competition, and elite competition, with the elite competition now held every four years. The Challenge Tournament held in Xiamen remains the highest level FIVB Sand Volleyball Tour held in China.

The 2024 Xiamen Station of the FIVB Sand Volleyball Tour will take place from April 25th to 28th, featuring 48 male and female teams from around the world competing at the highest level.

In addition to the FIVB Sand Volleyball Tour, Xiamen is also set to host a variety of other exciting sporting events throughout the year, including the 2024 National Fitness Championships and World Championships Trials in July, the 2024 China Tennis Tour CTA500 (Xiamen Station) in August, and the 2024 VAL Volleyball League Finals in October.

The lineup also includes traditional events such as the China Club Cup Sailing Challenge, Haicang Half Marathon, and the Tour of the East Half Marathon, ensuring that Xiamen’s sports scene in 2024 will be one to remember. With a diverse range of events, from professional volleyball and tennis to national fitness championships, Xiamen is gearing up for a year of thrilling athletic competition.
