Milan, 19 September 2021 – The world of football – especially the English one – is crying disappearance at 81 years of age Jimmy Greaves, one of the greatest strikers across the Channel. He is remembered above all for wearing the shirt of Tottenham, of which he is the best striker ever with 266 goals in 379 appearances. “We are extremely saddened to learn of the disappearance of the great Jimmy Greaves, not only the top scorer of Tottenham Hotspur, but the best shooter this country has ever seen – reads the statement with which the Spurs gave the news of Greaves’ death – Jimmy passed away at home early this Sunday morning. ”

Winner of the World Cup with the English national team (of which he is the fourth scorer ever behind Gary Lineker, Bobby Charlton and Wayne Rooney) in 1966 and best scorer in the First Division, Greaves in his career he also played in Italy, to be precise al Milan. His interlude in our championship was short, however: just 10 races with nine goals scored. He retired from football in 1980, later becoming a television commentator and columnist.
