President Micalich: “Whatever happens, it’s just the beginning of an ambitious project, we really believe in it”
CIVIDAL. It is not a dream, it is all true. On Wednesday the Ueb Gesteco Cividale, led by coach Stefano Pillastrini will play in Fabriano the final act of the Serie B playoff final which at the end of 40 ”will decide who between Ristopro Fabriano and Cividale will be promoted to Serie A2. It will be played at 8.30 pm at the Palasport in Cerreto d’Esi.
For the ducals to play game five was almost unthinkable: after the 2-0 scored in Fabriano, the road to get here was more than an uphill one. But captain Fattori and his teammates did not give up and with great tenacity and team spirit they evened the score by gaining access to the “grand final”.
Thanks to two well-deserved victories obtained at PalaGesteco (which has maintained inviolability for all play-offs) the ducals will descend to the Marche to play all out in the last challenge of this very long and exciting final series.
«The play-offs, in general – comments the Ueb president Davide Micalich – were an escalation of emotions. These last two matches in particular were forbidden matches for the faint of heart. My boys have put their heart and soul into play to overturn a severely compromised series. I can only be proud of them, their coach and all the staff ».
Few would have expected to go to race five. The two games played in Cerreto d’Esi had really been won with merit by the home team and the fear that Fabriano would already get promotion in the competition was great. «Our team can be seen as a sporting miracle – says Micalich – the result of a life dedicated to basketball.
Behind these guys there are managers and a coach who have many skills on their shoulders; moreover, programming is keeping this project going. However the “final” will go, we have created a magnificent project that has all the bases to be able to function even more in the future ».

We only need one game to land in Serie A2 and I almost find it hard to think about it: we have to face the match with a great desire to compete, but without too much pressure on us. We know that the home factor will ensure that they have a bit of an advantage, but that shouldn’t scare us. We must take the field without fear: it will be the field that will decide who has been better ».
