Jáquez Jr. suffers left groin strain

Mexican-American rookie Jaime Jáquez Jr suffered an unfortunate injury during the Miami Heat’s game against the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday night. After scoring 15 points in just 15 minutes of play in the first half, Jáquez Jr left the game with a left groin strain and did not return for the second half.

The Miami Heat confirmed the injury on social media, stating that Jáquez Jr would not be traveling for the team’s upcoming two-game road trip. The 20-year-old guard previously suffered a similar injury before the season began but does not believe it to be as serious this time.

Jáquez Jr has been a standout player for the Heat this season and has already been nominated for Rookie of the Month. In 38 games, he has averaged 30.6 minutes and 14 points per game, with a shooting percentage of 51%. Despite the setback, the Heat managed to secure a commanding 104-87 victory over the Hornets.

The team will surely miss Jáquez Jr’s contributions on the court during his absence, but they will be hoping for a speedy recovery for the promising rookie.
