Here is the set in Bologna, inside Palazzo Re Enzo which overlooks the central Piazza Maggiore, where the series I am legend was shot. This is the new original Sky Arte production, conceived and created by Bottega Finzioni, in which, starting tomorrow in prime time, De Angelis presents the lives of “illustrious strangers” who have inspired legendary characters. It begins with Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, continues with Betty Boop, Zorro, Pippi Longstocking, Indiana Jones and Dracula. 2021 was a golden year for the Bolognese actress “fast as the wind” in her ascent. Now, however, Matilda wants to take a long break from the set.

Matilda De Angelis, what convinced you to say yes to this format?

“When I choose a film project, I always try to think if I personally would watch that film or be passionate about that story. Similarly, I thought that, as a spectator, I would like the program. It is interesting to find out how, very often, behind it. great myths hide more ordinary people who are extraordinary because they are unique. Did you intervene on the choice of characters?

“I have been introduced to many more than those that will air, then with Bottega Finzioni I chose the stories that I found most exciting. The only one I proposed in first person was that of Pippi Longstocking”.

Is he a character he sees himself in?

“Pippi’s story is very dramatic even if it has a happy ending. I knew it was an autobiographical character, because a few years ago I had seen a film about Astrid Lindgren, the author of Pippi. I really enjoyed the battle. of the author, started as a child torn from childhood, who in adulthood tries desperately to find that child inside herself. In fact it is Lindgren who has always fascinated me, while my mother was a fan of Pippi Longstocking just when she came programmed on television “.

She is currently working in Turin on the set of the Lidia series, which tells the story of Lidia Poët, the first lawyer in Italy. Do you like being a bridge between the public and such avant-garde female personalities?

“Of course. Cinema is clearly entertainment, TV series even more, but it is true that cinema can and must convey culture. To be able to make known, through my work as an actress, an extraordinary personality like Lidia Poët, thanks to whom today a woman can become a lawyer, it is very interesting for me and it can be inspiring. The value of the series in this case is double because it entertains but also speaks of female empowerment. “

For eight years she has lived on the set and for the set and gives the idea of ​​being a very independent woman who makes clear choices.

“Certain choices are not necessarily a sign of independence, because a person may also need to focus on himself and therefore seek a certain independence. “I have sown a lot in recent years and I think it is important to enjoy the harvest, otherwise it becomes hysterical and bulimic hunger for work, with the fear of being forgotten. I’ve been working non-stop for eight years, I haven’t been on vacation for years, maybe I spend two weeks off the set in the summer, I need balance, I need to breathe. ”

What do you want to do?

“Anything that comes to mind in the morning when I wake up. Do I feel like hiking for a week? I do. Do I want to eat cookies on the bed while watching TV? Can I do it.”
