The New York Mets have made moves to add depth to their roster, reaching agreements with Venezuelan infielder Yolmer Sánchez and catcher Austin Allen. Both players have signed minor league contracts with an invitation to the big team’s training sessions.
Sánchez, 31, brings veteran experience to the team, having spent eight seasons in the Majors, with seven of those years being with the Chicago White Sox. He set a career high of 12 home runs in 2017, showcasing his power at the plate.
On the other hand, Allen, 30, has played parts of four years with the San Diego Padres and the Oakland Athletics, providing the Mets with additional catching options.
Both Sánchez and Allen will have the opportunity to compete for spots on the Mets’ big team during the preseason, adding to the team’s depth and competition for roster spots. Mets fans will be eager to see how these new additions fare as they push for a spot on the Major League roster.
