Martín Anselmi has not repeated a single lineup. The Argentine coach has surprised with multiple lineups during the first matches of the Closing 2024 tournament. His rotations at Cruz Azul have been notable, with surprising changes and tactics on the field.
After giving captain Juan Escobar a break, the Rosario strategist tried a large number of variants from behind. In the first games, he played with his traditional line of four, but in recent days, he opted for a line of five. Anselmi even surprised by deploying Ignacio Rivero as a third center back, the position usually occupied by Piojo Alvarado in this scheme. He has also pushed Rodolfo Rotondi back to the left winger position and positioned Uriel Antuna on the right.
Anselmi also made a significant change by playing with two forwards. Gabriel Fernandez played alone in the first matches, but in the last two meetings, Anselmi added Angel Sepúlveda, who scored two goals.
As the Matchday 5 matchup against Querétaro approaches, Anselmi’s lineup remains uncertain. However, it could be similar to the one sent out in the last game, possibly with a single modification, omitting Alexis Gutierrez.
The predicted lineup for Cruz Azul’s upcoming match against Querétaro could feature Kevin Mier in goal, with Rodolfo Rotondi, Gonzalo Piovi, Willer Ditta, Ignacio Rivero, Uriel Antuna, Erik Lira, Lorenzo Faravelli, Carlos Rodriguez, Gabriel Fernandez, and Angel Sepulveda.
Cruz Azul will face Querétaro at the Corregidora Stadium on Friday, February 2 at 7:00 p.m. CST. The match is part of Matchday 5 of the Closing 2024 Liga MX and Cruz Azul will be seeking their third consecutive victory.
