National Golf Championship Kicks Off in Chongqing
Chongqing, China – The China Sports Lottery 2024 “National Taiwan Cup” Poly Cultural Tourism National Golf Championship commenced in Chongqing on March 28th, with 220 players vying for the top spot over the next four days. The competition saw the Chongqing team making an impressive start, taking the lead in both the men’s and women’s team events as well as the individual events for both genders.
In the men’s team competition, the Chongqing team set the pace with a score of 199 strokes (-14), followed closely by the Hunan team with 201 strokes (-12), and the Shanghai team in third place with 203 strokes (-10). On the women’s side, the Chongqing team also dominated, securing first place with a score of 208 strokes (-8), with the Zhejiang team trailing by just 1 stroke, and the Shanghai team in third with 210 strokes (-6).
In the individual events, 14-year-old Zhou Shiyuan shone for the Chongqing team in the women’s category, scoring 66 (-6) with 7 “birdies” and 1 “bogey.” Meanwhile, Tang Haizhao led the men’s field with an impressive score of 63 (-8), recording 9 “birdies” and 1 “bogey.”
With an average age of 22 years old, the competition is showcasing some young talent, with the Chongqing team’s eight players boasting an average age of less than 17 years old. As the tournament progresses, golf enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating more exciting moments and fierce competition on the course.
