Madrid, June 2, 2022 – Un 35-year-old Italian died hit by a police car in Palma de Mallorca, in Spain. According to local media reports, the victim was originally from Gallura, Sardinia, between Tempio Pausania and Luras, even though she had lived for years in the Balearics where she was a waiter at the “49 Steps”. The Unami group that manages the restaurant has announced that it will close for two days as a sign of mourning. Friends and colleagues placed flowers on the accident logo.
The tragedy
The Italian had left a restaurant where he worked Wednesday night, after finishing his shift, and was walking with a colleague and friend in the Passeig Sagrera area. Suddenly a police car hit the sidewalk at full speed and with the sirens blaring, the driver lost control of the vehicle which went to overwhelm the three. All transported to the university hospital of Son Espases, but the 35-year-old Sardinian died from his very serious injuries.
Strict investigation
A rigorous investigation was promised by Palma safety councilor, Joana Maria Adrover. At the moment there is talk of wet asphalt as the cause of the skid, and the policeman behind the wheel tested negative for the alcohol test. He and his colleague in the car received psychological support.
