The much-anticipated schedule for the 2024 Paris Olympics basketball competition has been released, with the Chinese women’s basketball team set to face off against Spain in their first game on July 28.
FIBA announced the schedule on March 27, revealing that the Chinese women’s team will kick off their Olympic campaign against the powerhouse European team, Spain. This match is not only the opening game for the Chinese team but also the start of the entire women’s basketball competition at the Olympics.
The women’s basketball group stage consists of 3 groups, with 4 teams in each group. The Chinese team, placed in Group A, will also compete against Serbia on July 31 and Puerto Rico on August 3 in the group stage matches.
On the men’s side, the Australian team will face off against the winner of the Olympic qualifying round in Spain in the opening game. The US team’s first game is scheduled for July 28 against Serbia.
The basketball competition will take place from July 27 to August 4 at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Lille, France, with the top two teams from each group and the two best third-place teams advancing to the finals. The finals will be held from August 6 to 11 at the Stade Bercy in Paris.
