Peru set to face El Salvador in friendly ahead of Copa América

After Jorge Fossati’s successful debut as the head coach of the Peruvian National Team in the March friendlies, the focus has shifted to the upcoming Copa América tournament. With known opponents Argentina, Chile, and Canada, preparation is key for the national team. In light of this, the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) has carefully analyzed and selected the teams for the friendlies leading up to the continental competition.

The FPF announced through the team’s social media channels that El Salvador has been chosen as the opponent for the friendly match prior to the start of the Copa América. The match is scheduled for Friday, June 14 at 7:30 pm (Peruvian time) at the Subaru Park stadium in Philadelphia. In addition to this, Peru will also face Paraguay in another friendly match on Friday, June 7 in Lima.

National team manager Franco Navarro expressed his satisfaction with the planned friendlies, emphasizing the importance of playing on home soil before heading to the United States for the Copa América. The matches will provide the team with valuable preparation and support from fans both in Peru and the US.

The Peruvian National Team has had a positive start to the year with victories in friendly matches against Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. Despite a challenging position in the World Cup Qualifiers, the team is focused on putting on a strong performance in the upcoming Copa América.

Following the friendlies in June, the team will gather in the US to prepare for the tournament where they will face tough competition in Group A. The FIFA ranking may not fully reflect the team’s current form, but the players are determined to give their best on the field.
