We only ride in the dry in the morning where the Spaniard shines DOHA (QATAR) (ITALPRESS) – The weather takes center stage on the first day of the 2024 MotoGP in Qatar. After the morning dedicated to free practice, the MotoGP Practice was supposed to take place on the Lusail circuit to define access to Q1 and Q2 but, during P1 of Moto2, the flood hit the circuit. Program therefore revolutionised: another free and practice session postponed until tomorrow morning, with qualifying to follow and then the sprint.
In dry conditions, the best was Jorge Martin, riding the Ducati of the Pramac team, who stopped the clock in FP1 at 1’52″624, narrowly preceding Aleix Espargarò on the Aprilia and the rookie Pedro Acosta on the Ktm of the Red Bull GASGAS Tech 3: 47 and 71 thousandths behind respectively. Followed by Marc Marquez with the Ducati Gresini and Brad Binder with the official Ktm, while Pecco Bagnaia closes the top ten behind Zarco, Bastianini, Di Giannantonio and Miller The wet session was not very indicative, but Marc Marquez stood out: best time in 2’06″544 ahead of the two Ktm GasGas of Augusto Fernandez and Pedro Acosta, with Bagnaia (12th) and Martin (18th) in the rear. “In the first session I was able to ride as I like and I calmed down after the crash in the tests – Martin’s words – Tonight I did the laps I had to do and that’s it: I didn’t feel comfortable with the light and the tyres”. – photo Ipa Agency – (ITALPRESS). glb/red 08-Mar-24 19:48 .
