those. The Young Boys and their head coach Raphael Wicky are now going their separate ways. The Swiss champions reported this on Monday (March 4). The 46-year-old from Valais has been released from his position. The team will be led on an interim basis by U-21 coach Joël Magnin until the end of the season.

Christoph Spycher is quoted in the Bern club’s press release as follows: “The separation from Raphael Wicky hurts us very much. But after careful consideration, we came to the conclusion that the situation is deadlocked and the team needs fresh energy to be able to take the challenging path back to success.

And sports director Steve von Bergen explains in the communiqué how the separation came about. The team’s performance has not met the club management’s expectations for a long time. After the 0-1 defeat against FCZ, he and Raphael Wicky made an arrangement on Sunday evening. He noticed “that we have different approaches to how we could find our way out of this difficult situation.”

In addition to Raphael Wicky, assistant coach Giuseppe Morello must also leave the club with immediate effect.

More to come.
