Rome, 28 July 2021 – An extensive fire of vegetation and Mediterranean scrub is affecting the area close to the Pass of the Sentinel, before the old Fiumicino lighthouse. Several fire brigade vehicles are on site and civil protection. The column of smoke is visible from a distance from all over the city. Carabinieri and local police blocked the transit of cars on the final stretch of Via del Faro.
Fire brigade epcivil protection are engaged, from 17, to control the vast fire that is hitting over one hectare of vegetation, reeds, trees and scrub near the area of the old Fiumicino lighthouse. The flames, fueled by the wind, which affected about 6-7 hectares, reactivated several times and touched the final stretch of via del Faro, where four homes were evacuated as a precaution.
