VOGHERA
Giacomo Scattolon’s balance was positive at the 106th Targa Florio, the third round of the absolute Italian rally championship held on the roads of the province of Palermo: an attacking race by the driver from Voghera, trying to keep himself out of trouble at the same time the standard bearer of Aci Team Italia, who conquered the sixth final position, was awarded. A result which, consequently, consolidates Scattolon’s third position in the classification of the Italian Rally Promotion championship, a tricolor series set as the seasonal goal of the Oltre Padano driver.
Despite having to face some initial difficulties, due in particular to a bank of fog mixed with pouring rain which, already in the early stages, penalized the rider of the Movisport stable, flanked in the cockpit by Giovanni Bernacchini, forcing him to have to recover in the second day the resulting gap accumulated, in the Sicilian race Scattolon’s feeling with the car was confirmed to be excellent, increasing with every km.
«On the first day we suffered slightly from the weather conditions – explains Scattolon – poor grip in the first tests and then rain, but above all fog in the banks that occurred during our passage and this meant that in the last test Bernacchini and I did not we could push as we wanted; on the second day we managed to maintain a good pace, the one we had expected in the previous stages of the race. A very technical Targa Florio, with basic conditions to interpret. I am satisfied with the car and the work of the team, with whom we shared decisions that were decisive for the result ».
The next round of the championship will see the driver from Voghera compete on the asphalt of Alba and its hills, on 24-25 June, with a format that will develop mainly on Saturday 24, preceded by a show rehearsal scheduled for Friday evening. . –
