A gratifying third place was determined by the four-man finals played in Cembra, especially considering the value of the opponents and the very young age of the Ampezzo association.
The team formed by Giacomo Colli, Alberto Zisa, Francesco De Zanna, Simone Piffer and Edoardo Alfonsi has grown a lot in recent times under the guidance of coach Diana Gaspari, which is why there was no lack of curiosity in understanding how far the Cortinese boys could go. . It’s just a pity that Saturday was very unlucky. Or rather, there was little chance of overcoming the first semifinal where Club 66 was opposed to Team Retornaz from Pinerolo.
We are talking about the same formation of the Italian national team participating in the recent Beijing Games: from skip Joel Retornaz to Sebastiano Arman, from Simone Gonin to that Amos Mosaner among other Olympic champion together with Stefania Constantini from Cortina in the mixed doubles. The final 6-1 was therefore not surprising, but given the second place in the classification of the qualifying round robin, Colli and his companions could still try to go to the final through the recovery semifinal against Cembra 88. Here, however, a knockout 9 came. -8 at the extra end, in the most mocking way possible.

At that point Club 66 focused on the third place final, where the opponent was Biella. With the Piedmontese there was very little history: 9-3 the final score and here is the bronze. Needless to say, the Pinerolo team won the gold by beating Cembra 5-1. All this in front of a remarkable audience, demonstrating how curling has increased its popularity thanks to Constantini and Mosaner’s gold.
On the other hand, Renegades Virtus Piemonte, Trentino Cembra and Team Il Podio Fireblock remained out of the final four championship.
“This is our second year in Serie A and third place is undoubtedly a good result, especially considering that we finished fourth in the last championship.”
To remember it is the skip Colli, among other things one of the top athletes of the Junior national team.
