Protection is primarily about possible attacks. There is concern: There could be a terrorist attack like the one on a concert hall near the Russian capital Moscow. The politicians say: There is also a risk of such attacks in Germany. That’s why the security forces have to be very careful at the European Championships.

The Interior Minister of Germany is called Nancy Faeser. She says: We will do more border controls at the European Championships. This allows us to find possible perpetrators of violence. Faeser says: The security of the EM is very important to us.

The European Football Championship is from June 14th to July 14th. The German national team plays in the group phase against Switzerland, Scotland and Hungary. Germany has now won 2 test games. In the end it was 2-1 against the Netherlands and 2-0 against France.
