Super Cup, Tinet Prata surrenders to the tie-break

Pordenonesi remodeled: the trophy at Videx Grottazzolina, which redeems the defeat suffered in the final of the Italian Cup

GROTTAZZOLINA. The hosts of Videx, defeated in the Italian cup match of A3 by Tinet Prata, take their revenge on Easter day and beat the Pordenone team in the tie-break, winning the first edition of the Supercoppa Del Monte in the A3 series. The Prata, which appeared in a remodeled formation, bites his hands. Ahead after the first and third sets, the visiting team gets overwhelmed by a short bench.

In the third set, Tinet’s masterpiece that uses pipe games, surprising the local defense: from 9-10 to 10-16. Mattia Boninfante’s shift on duty hurts. Grottazzolina is on the ropes: 16-25, Prata returns to the lead in the sets: 1-2.

But the guests don’t have the right continuity. Videx’s reaction is disruptive: 13-6, then 25-17. It is played on the nerves: 2-2. But at the tie-break there is only Videx and Tinet never gives the impression of being able to dominate the opponent, especially in the serve. The locals immediately gain two points ahead, then stretch to 9-6 (Yordanov pipe out). At 10-8, Videx takes off: a Breuning point (best in the field) arrives diagonally, Vecchi’s ace and Breuning’s slash: 13-9. Favored from the turn of service, Videx wins after an attack by Mandolini, 15-10 and 3-2. Wednesday Prata plays game-1 of the quarter-finals of the play-offs with San Donà, but must recover the injured.
