The “14th Winter” snowboarding platform project is showcasing a flourishing trend as big jumps are advancing from the north to the south with a surge in newcomers emerging in the snowboarding scene. The competition for beauty and skill is fierce as the southern provinces and regions are dominating the top three spots in the latest Winter Games.
In a thrilling turn of events, Shanxi team’s Su Yiming overcame a mistake in the first round to score a game-high 93.40 points in the final round, clinching the gold medal and surpassing Yang Wenlong of the Anhui team, who had held the top spot. The bronze medal went to Sun Zhendong of the Hebei team in an intense showdown.
The southern provinces have been making waves in ice and snow sports, with Guangxi teenager Gan Jiajia securing the first gold medal for the delegation in the history of the Winter Games. Yunnan’s Chen Aldao and Sichuan’s He Tingjia claimed the second and third spots, respectively, in the women’s open finals.
In the youth categories, Sichuan’s Xiong Shirui secured the gold medal in the women’s big platform final, while Beijing’s Yang Jinghan emerged victorious in the men’s platform final. Both athletes expressed their determination to continue improving and competing on bigger stages.
