The patrol of athletes from Pavia at the Tokyo Olympics won four medals, the best result ever. Two bronzes, in the 200 butterfly and in the mixed 4×100 relay, for Federico Burdisso, a nineteen year old swimmer from Pavia; silver in the individual archery competition for Mauro Nespoli from Voghera (already silver in the team competition at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and gold in the same competition at the 2012 London Games). Finally, the silver won by Manfredi Rizza, airman and mechanical engineer from Pavia, in the final of the K1 200 meters canoe. Rebecca Nicoli (light weight boxing, exit in the round of 16 against the world champion) and Angelica Olmo (triathlon) also took part in the Tokyo Games.
