Hence the decision of the National Federation to postpone the match, waiting for the player to undergo the molecular swab today, Monday 7 June. In the event of a negative outcome, the race will most likely be recovered as early as this Wednesday, June 9th. However, at the moment, there is no certainty about when Volpianese and Caselle will be able to take the field, as confirmed by coach Stefano Andreotti of the Volpianese.
The coach says: «On Friday, as we have always done during this season, we gave all the players and the coaching staff a quick swab and all of them gave a negative result. So Saturday’s match would be played regularly, as scheduled, at 9pm. But on Saturday morning we received a phone call from a player who informed us that she was not well, she had fever and flu symptoms, she underwent a quick swab again, but this time , after only a few hours, the outcome was different from the night before. So we immediately informed, according to the practice, the Federation and the Caselle of this situation. So the game that was postponed. Too bad, last Saturday he would have played the typical formation of the moment with Ivaldi on the dribble and Rinaldi on the opposite, Cane and Tessari in the band, Neffati and Salvi in the center and Pesce free. Now everything will depend on the outcome of the molecular swab that our player will carry out, if it is negative, we will most likely play the second leg of the final on Wednesday, but if it is positive we still know nothing what will happen: at the moment everything is shrouded in the thickest mystery ».
We recall that Caselle won 3-1 in the first leg. Volpianese to win promotion to B1 must win 3-0 or 3-1 and then also win the golden set (to 15 points). In case she does not succeed, the Volpianese would still have another possibility to move up to the category, that is to overcome in a further round (round trip, with the rules that will be the same as the playoffs, or pass who in the calculation of the two comparisons will have obtained the most points) another team that lost the final, which this time can come from any region of Italy.
However, this phase is played between Saturday 12 and Saturday 19 June, as Andreotti further explains: “The time is very tight between the final against Caselle and the next possible round, in case we play during the week and lose, then we would be busy again on Saturday against who does not know, may be against a Lombard formation, like a Calabrian. It would be a big problem for us to organize a long trip quickly.
