The over 40 Clara Nobile, Iriense Voghera, wins the San Zaccaria trail for the second consecutive time, while the over 40 Alex Zulian writes his name for the first time in the roll of honor of the prestigious race with start and finish to the parish church of San Zaccaria (Rocca Susella).
The route of the 37th edition changed, just over 19 km with 1000 meters of altitude difference, challenging descents and climbs, but the competitors suffered little from the heat, even finding the fog at the start, preceded by the minute of silence in memory of Achille Maganza, passed away at 81 years old.
“I’m happy – said Zulian, from Tortona from Alfieri Asti, winner in 1h46’51 at the finish line – two of us ran away in the first climbs, then I was alone”. Dario Morellini, 55, Vegan Runners, from Saronno, finished second (1h47’38): “I mark this appointment in Oltrepo on my calendar every year because I always want to be there – he says – as always, everything is perfect”. Third for the over 55 of the Garlaschese, Aziz Meliani (1h50’53): «I knew that Alex, who is younger, was traveling at a good pace and I train in the flat Lomellina. For competitions like this you need to have stamina, head and legs. In the first part I managed myself and then pushed into the second, I knew what the course was like, technical and demanding ».
Clara Nobile had tried the course a couple of weeks ago: «I started in front and I did the race with the men, finishing with an excellent 2h02’45. Fortunately, time has pardoned us ». On the second step of the women’s podium the over 40 of the Garlaschese, Silvia Malagoli (2h18’16), in front of Sabrina Spreafico Tds (2h22’47): “I’m happy with the time and the result – says Malagoli – I started calmly because the first part was uphill. When I saw Sabrina approaching, I accelerated. Downhill I’m not afraid and I throw myself, stretching on the opponents ».Maurizio Scorbati
