The 2024 World Indoor Track and Field Championships came to an end in Glasgow, England on March 4th, with two new world records being set during the three-day event.

The highlight of the championships was the men’s 60-meter dash, where American star Coleman clinched the title with a time of 6.41 seconds, setting the fastest time of the year. Last year’s “Triple Crown” winner Lyles finished close behind, just 0.03 seconds behind Coleman.

Coleman had previously set the world record of 6.34 seconds in 2018, but was later suspended for doping violations. The showdown between Coleman and Lyles was highly anticipated, with fans thrilled to witness their battle on the track.

In the women’s 400m final, Dutch athlete Boer broke the world indoor record with a time of 49.17 seconds. This marked her third time breaking the record in this event since 2023. Another record was set in the women’s 60-meter hurdles, with Charlton of the Bahamas finishing in 7.65 seconds, breaking her own previous record.

Several other athletes also made their mark at the championships, with Kruse from the USA breaking the shot put tournament record and Pierre winning the women’s 3000 meters with a new meet record.

Overall, the United States dominated the championships with 6 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals. The next World Indoor Athletics Championships are set to take place in Nanjing, China in 2025.
