Arrascaeta recently gave an interview to a Uruguayan channel and was asked if he would be interested in playing in European football. The midfielder did not close the door on a future transfer, but stated that he is happy at Flamengo.

“What can I tell you, nowadays, given my age, it is very difficult for a highly prestigious team in Europe to be able to invest. Because leaving Flamengo is difficult. After all, the clause is high. So , going to a team that perhaps in Europe doesn’t fight for important things doesn’t motivate me much. What I’ve always decided is to be with Flamengo fighting for important things. Obviously the doors never close, but it’s a little more difficult at this point in my career “, said Arrascaeta.

Interest from Boca Juniors

Afterwards, Arrascaeta commented on whether he would play in Argentine football. The midfielder was recently targeted by Boca Juniors, but negotiations did not progress. At the time, Marcos Braz joked that it would be necessary to sell Bombonera to sign the Uruguayan.

“With Flamengo we are always competing for important things in America. Apart from 2023, every year we win prestigious championships. Here I have a contract until 2026 and in every year I have always had a lot of minutes. That keeps me happy and nowadays it weighs a lot”, said Arrascaeta.

“When I passed Marcos Braz in the dressing room, he told me: “Look, my entry to Argentina has already been cancelled”, added Arrascaeta.
