Rome, 23 May 2022 – Almost 30 thousand Russian soldiers have died in Ukraine since the start of the war. On the eighty-eighth day of conflict, here is the update of the losses of the Moscow army. According to British intelligence, in the first three months of the war, Russia is facing similar numbers on soldiers killed to those recorded in the nine-year war in Afghanistan. London does not estimate dead soldiers, but evidence on the Twitter report that the “high death rate” is due to a number of factors, including an approach to command that reinforces failures in the field.
Russian deaths in Ukraine: the numbers
The Kiev army provides a precise number on Russia’s losses since the start of the war: 29,200 soldiers killed.
