With a score of 137 to 131 Lisa Vittozzi defeated Silvio Fauner and won the coveted gold platter. A special challenge, yesterday in Sappada, saw the two beloved home champions as protagonists. No narrow skis or rifles. In front of a large (and hungry) popular jury despite inclement weather, Silvio Fauner proposed a dish based on dumplings while Lisa Vittozzi replied with green dumplings enriched with a sprinkling of smoked ricotta.

A challenge made complicated by a series of external factors: the weather first of all, which forced both of them to operate in less than optimal conditions, and then the field kitchen used, in perfect mountain picnic style. Despite all the final result, for both of them, it was more than satisfactory as confirmed by the applause and votes received, which reached an average of more than 8 for both.

“There was tension, just like in the race,” revealed Silvio Fauner, jostling next to a very concentrated Lisa Vittozzi, for once in giving shape to her dumplings and not to hit the big target.

“Lunch is served” Corrado would have announced to his viewers once the stove was turned off and tasted the dishes: this was also the case yesterday, when those present were called to vote: dumplings or dumplings? In the end, Lisa Vittozzi’s dumplings triumphed, to whom the coveted gold platter was delivered. Silvio Fauner, second, was given a ladle as a reward reward.

“It will mean that I will use it in the kitchen to train in view of the revenge”, announced the councilor for sport of the Municipality of Sappada, who then made known his favorite delicacies at the table: “I am a lover of pasta. Which two dishes do I prefer? Cacio e pepe and amatriciana, pasta anyway ».

And what does Lisa Vittozzi prefer when she sits at the table between one competition and another?

«First courses and desserts. Gnocchi are my favorites, it is no coincidence that I chose to cook them. I like to sauté when I have time. I learned several things in the kitchen of the family hotel and when I have the chance I put them into practice. Desserts are my passion ».

Silvio Fauner also revealed that he knows how to extricate himself properly in the kitchen of the house. Staying on the culinary theme, the main ingredient used in yesterday’s event was irony. The same one that Lisa Vittozzi put on display when, at the moment of the award ceremony, she let slip a “I’m used to receiving ladles, if I were to lose I wouldn’t make a drama”. And yet this was not the case, for the happiness of mother Nadia who, as a precious collaborator of the “Gustosa Sappada” review, offered everyone present a taste of strudel. Archived the review (which could return in August), it is time for Silvio to return to his institutional but also sporting commitments (he is in charge of Nordic skiing for the Carabinieri sports center). Lisa Vittozzi, with a short Italian vacation behind her, will already return today to train in the mountains of her home.
