Olympia Voghera inaugurates a new technical course and chooses as coach Stefano Cova, 32, from Voghera, who in the last two seasons has played the role of assistant coach in Omnia Pavia in Serie B. After the last year, which culminated in the ‘ access to the playoffs, with coach Erich Franchini at the helm, the Vogherese club turns the page, remaining faithful to the line of young people.
«We thank Franchini, who approached home for work reasons. Cova is a young and prepared coach, who will be able to carry out our project, strongly linked to the development of young people, ”says the president Stefano Barbieri. Olympia continues in synergy with Derthona and also includes Castelnuovo Scrivia in its project, who will play at PalaOltrepo with the women’s A2 team: «We are proud to continue our partnership with Bertram, which has achieved the extraordinary milestone of the A1 series. For next season, we will have a roster made up entirely of young players, which we will manage together with Derthona ». Cova, former Olympia player, jumped at the opportunity presented to him by Derthona and Voghera: «It is the sixth year that I coach, I was head coach in Stradella in D and then assistant coach in Pavia. I was called by Bertram, where I will coach the Under 15 team and, at the same time, I was offered the possibility of leading Olympia in Serie C, it is a pride to be able to coach the team of my city. On the roster, we will have the boys who will play with Derthona’s Under 19 team, therefore a very young formation. The primary objective is to encourage the growth of young people, seeing them improve will be gratifying. We are well aware of the difficulties that await us, in terms of ranking we think first of all about salvation ». –
