Riga (from our correspondent) – In the 19th game against each other, the hockey team lost to the Latvians for the first time in history (3:4 in overtime).
Do you blame any of the four goals conceded?
We will discuss that with the coach. I do not know now.
It looks like you have their trust when you caught the second of three matches at the World Cup…
I’m happy for that, but I said I’d go into the tournament with any position. If they give me a match, I’ll go catch it. If not, I won’t be offended. But each of the three of us wants to catch as many matches as possible. I value trust.
When did you find out you were going to the gate again on Monday?
Were you surprised by how sweaty you were in the first period? 13 shots were fired at you…
Better to be on pace than to have nothing going for you and then suddenly a leak comes. That’s not ideal.
What were the Latvians better at?
I don’t know, I really don’t. Losing in overtime is very difficult for me now. I am very happy that we equalized at 3:3, both teams had chances in extra time when playing three on three. They were happier.
Weren’t you surprised by how hard they played against you after the first two losses?
They played at home, the fans drove them, they simply had to. But we did not underestimate the match. We wanted to grab three points, win. It doesn’t always work out.
Is the first defeat in the tournament a complication for the development of the group?
How noticeable was the absence of Filipů Chlapík with Chytil?
They are both quality players, but we have plenty of skilled others.
