Modena, 12 June 2022 – He died last night in his home in Milan Piero Sugareditor and music producer, husband of Caterina Caselli. Born in 1937, he was the son of Ladislao Sugar, known for having founded the Musical Messaging and managed the CGD. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon in church of San Marco in Milanprivately, by decision of the family that in these hours has chosen the strictest confidentiality.
He joined his father’s company in the sixties – those of the victory of Gigliola Cinquetti a Sanremo with “I have no age” (1964) – Piero would later become its managing director, leading it successfully, flanked by his wife. The two had met when they were still in their twenties: it was Ladislao Sugar who noticed Caselli al Piper in Rome, in 1965, and to have them recorded the year after the hit “No one can judge me”.
In June 1970 the marriage between Piero and Caterina, who was 24 years old, the year after the birth of son Philip. In 1989 Caterina Caselli, the ex ‘golden helmet’ who had by now chosen to devote herself to music as a producer and talent scout of great flair, she founded the Together-Sugar, then Sugar. Currently, the company is headed by Filippo, who has followed in the footsteps of the family and was also president of Siae from 2015 to 2018. The search for originality and uniqueness, “from soundtracks to pop through classical and contemporary music, but always belonging to a single strong Italian matrix”.
Among the artists of the stable: Andrea Bocelli, Malika Ayane, the Negramaro, Raphael Gualazzi, Madame, Motta, Sangiovanni.
