Sony is set to release the PS5 Pro later this year, as per a report by Moore’s Law is Dead. The enhanced version of the PS5 is expected to be announced at the company’s financial results briefing last week. The standard price for the Pro model is likely to be significantly higher than the base model, leaving consumers worried about potential price increases.

According to Moore’s Law is Dead, the PS5 Pro will utilize the 8-core AMD Zen 2 architecture, with a maximum clock speed of 4 GHz, down from the original 7 GHz. Additionally, it is speculated that the Pro will feature 16GB DDR6 memory, and a significantly larger GPU with a total of 60 compute units, though Sony is expected to use 56 of these, compared to the base PS5’s 36.

Internal sources at AMD suggest that the PS5 Pro is expected to be released at the end of 2024. The report by Moore’s Law is Dead also indicates that the price of the Pro model will be $499, which translates to around 17,580 yuan, significantly higher than the standard PS5.

Gaming reporter Jeff Grubb had previously suggested that the PS5 could potentially be launched in September 2024, also hinting at Sony incorporating technology similar to NVIDIA DLSS to improve graphical fidelity and performance in games.

With the impending release of the PS5 Pro and potential price hikes, it leaves consumers wondering about the future of gaming and the impact it may have on their wallets.
