WWDC 2023: a unique experience for developers
WWDC 2023 will take place online from June 5 to 9. It will be an unmissable opportunity for developers, students and technology enthusiasts from all over the world. This conference is renowned as one of the most important events in the industry of software and application development for Apple devices. During the event, developers will have the opportunity to interact directly with Apple engineers and experts. There are both individual workshops and activities on Slack. These experiences will provide insight into how to create innovative, platform-differentiated apps and games. Developers will be able to get personalized feedback on their apps, learn best development practices and discover new features of the Apple platforms.
The themes of the event
WWDC 2023 will showcase the latest innovations, tools and innovative technologies for app and game development. Session videos will be uploaded to the app and the Apple Developer website. In this way, everyone will be able to access the information and content presented during the event. Topics such as artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, app security, accessibility and much more will be addressed. The novelties presented at WWDC 2023
During the opening keynote, Apple presented some of the new features that will arrive on iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS and watchOS. Apple has announced the introduction of new features based on artificial intelligence to improve the user experience and enable smarter control of devices. Additionally, it showcased its commitment to virtual and augmented reality, showcasing new features and tools for developers to create immersive experiences. Apple stressed the importance of app security and unveiled new safeguards and controls to ensure user and privacy.
Apple Vision Pro
The main novelty presented this year is Apple Vision Pro, to which we have dedicated this article. This virtual and augmented reality headset marks Apple’s direct entry into a market in competition with Facebook, which has just announced its next-generation headset, the Meta Quest 3. Apple Vision Pro is a new type of computer, the first to allow users to “see” by merging digital content with the physical world. It offers the possibility to interact with their surroundings and with other people.
This viewer has been developed in recent years and allows natural interaction through voice, eyes and hands, both for entertainment purposes, such as watching movies, and for work purposes, such as consulting documents, surfing the web and sending messages. Driven by the specially designed Vision OS operating system and Apple’s powerful M2 chip, the Vision Pro offers a dual 23 million pixel display. It offers its own support for hundreds of apps available on the App Store, including support for apps from Microsoft.
New for iPhone and Mac
During the presentation, Apple introduced several new features for iOS, the iPhone operating system. One of the new features is the Phone app, which includes the feature Contact Posters, allowing you to customize the image, text or avatar that is displayed to the person receiving the call. Also new is the function Check Inwhich allows you to notify family members in real time if you are back home. There are also updates to the keyboard and dictation function, improving self-correction through machine learning.
During its WWDC 2023 presentation, Apple also announced the complete transformation of Macs with the transition to the Apple Silicon processor. The new 15-inch MacBook Air features a lightweight, durable and thin design, measuring just 11.5 millimeters thin. Also new to the Mac world is the new Mac Studio, a compact PC aimed at professionals. Its second version is even faster and more powerful, thanks to the introduction of the M2 Ultra processor, which will also be available on the new Mac Pro.

With the arrival of iPadOS 17, the operating system for Apple tablets, the iPad gets smarter. New features include the introduction of interactive widgets that let you control your home or play music right from your home screen. As for macOS, the operating system for Macs, the new version called “Sonoma” inherits many of the innovations introduced on the iPhone and iPad. You can add widgets to your desktop, such as photos, weather, and sports scores. The new version 10 of watchOS optimizes the information inside the Apple Watch faces.
