Good party speaker for €70! LAMAX Sounder 2 in the test

Good party speaker for €70! LAMAX Sounder 2 in the test

With the Sounder 2, LAMAX offers a new outdoor Bluetooth speaker. This should score points with a 360 degree sound as well as a robust design.

This also includes IP67 water protection. The sound shouldn’t be neglected either, so the Sounder 2 should score with a “BEATBASS® SOUND”.

Sounds pretty impressive so far. But what does it look like in practice? All manufacturers always advertise with big words, but what is behind them?

Let’s find out in the LAMAX Sounder 2 review!

At this point, many thanks to LAMAX for providing the Sounder 2.

The LAMAX Sounder 2 in the test

LAMAX relies on a tube shape for the Sounder 2. At 180 × 75 × 75 mm and weighing 600g, the speaker is certainly not tiny, but still very portable!

An important point here is robustness. This has hard rubber edges and is completely covered with a linen fabric.

According to the manufacturer, the speaker is IP67 water protected. This means that it could even go underwater for a short time without being damaged. Accordingly, using it at the pool or in the rain would not be a big risk.

The buttons that control the Sounder 2 are located on the side of the speaker under a layer of rubber.

There is also a small flap under which there is a microSD card slot, as well as the USB C charging port. The speaker is said to last up to 12 hours on a single charge, a figure that I can confirm at this level.

As a little “bonus”, there is an integrated volume control wheel on the top of the speaker.

Klang from Sounder 2

I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised by the sound of the Sounder 2. The small speaker has a surprising amount of power!

And by power I mean bass, of course. Of course, this speaker doesn’t manage to make a living room shake, that’s impossible with these dimensions, but it delivers a lot of bass for its size! The speaker itself shakes noticeably, especially at higher volumes.

The bass also seems pleasantly round and full. Even the depth is remarkable. I’m really happy with the bass of the LAMAX Sounder 2.

But not only the bass is good, the treble is also more than OK. But here it depends on your position in relation to the speaker. Although LAMAX advertises a “360 degree” sound, this is only half true.

We have two drivers on the sides of the speaker. You generally get the best treble and sound when one of these is pointed at you. However, the Sounder 2 does have a fairly room-filling “360 degree” sound.

The highs are generally very clear, clean and sharp. Only the mids are a little thinner, but that doesn’t hurt the “fun” sound signature.

The LAMAX Sounder 2 has a very good high/low contrast, which gives music a lot of dynamics and fun to play. In keeping with this, the speaker can also get quite loud.

Conclusion

I am positively impressed with the LAMAX Sounder 2! The speaker performed very well in the test.

The speaker sounds very good for its dimensions. This has a very lively and dynamic sound. The bass is also remarkable.

Sure, we have a speaker here that goes a little more in the “party” direction and doesn’t necessarily deliver the most neutral sound, but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing.
