Not only reducing emissions, but also “capturing” CO2 that has already been emitted is one approach to climate protection.
In the NECOC project at KIT, researchers remove CO2 from the atmosphere and convert the greenhouse gas into stable carbon using combined processes.

To date, the raw material has mostly been obtained from fossil sources, which produces large amounts of CO2. In the NECOC plant, however, it is produced in a climate-friendly manner from air and renewable energies. Dr. explains how the technology works and what the researchers are currently working on.
